Dr. Wissman maintains a breeding group of green iguanas, leopard tortoises, African Spur-thighed tortoises, Wood turtles, box turtles and red-eared sliders. She has also managed a large herd of breeding Galapagos tortoises and Aldabra tortoises. She works with several reptile importers, several pet retailers and also with many herp breeders.

Dr. Wissman has co-authored the book, Green Iguanas : An Owner's Guide, Bowtie Press, 1995, which is available at many pet stores and book retailers. It is an in-depth guide on how to select and care for the number one reptile pet in the United States. Dr. Wissman wrote the medical chapter, and contributed to the information regarding nutrition and breeding.
